Principal's Message

Dr.Mrs. J M Nair, Principal , VES Institute of Technology

The Silver Jubilee year of VESIT is not merely an occasion of celebration but also a time for reflecting in the past, for introspection and for starting new initiatives in tune with our vision.

It was 13th August 1984 that Vivekanand Education Society received much awaited response from University of Bombay permitting it to start Institute of Technology.
VESIT, thus came into existence on 13th August 1984, with three undergraduate courses, Electronics, Computer and Instrumentation Engineering. Subsequently, the branch of Electronics & Telecommunication was added in 1992 and Information technology in 1999. The quality education provided by VESIT was acknowledged by AICTE by accrediting all the four UG courses we had applied for. University has also permitted us to start Post Graduate Programmes – M.E. in Electronics & Telecommunication and Instrumentation & Control and Master of Computer Applications subsequently.

VESIT is now considered as a premier Engineering Institute which is committed towards disseminating knowledge and providing students with an education that is well balanced is terms of academics, extracurricular activities and character building.
We supplement the curriculum requirements with courses, workshops and activities which prepare  our students to meet present day challenges and stay competitive.

The focus of attention of the institute in the recent years is on Research, Creativity and Innovation. Efforts in such direction have been initiated from different quarters on a small scale to give a proper structure to such initiatives; we have started a Research & Development Centre.
A project ‘Wireless SCADA’ for Godrej Industries has reached final stage and successfully completed field trials. VESIT has also been winning prizes since 2002 in the project competitions held as part of Elecrama organized by Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturer’s Association.

VESIT also has conducted a national conference ‘UTKARSH’ on Technologies for Societal Transformation to give a platform for engineering faculty to extend their horizon. It is indeed noteworthy that this conference was included in the Sesqui Centennial Celebration of Mumbai University and Golden Jubilee Celebration of Bhabha Atomic Research Center.

The International Conference ‘ICCCI-09’ on Communication, Computers and Instrumentation is our endeavor to provide an international forum for exchange of technological advances and research ideas in the field of Communication, Computers and Instrumentation.
